ICEx CoPC Unit 002 | Classification of Hazardous
Area Installations
Why Ex 002 Matters
IECEx Unit 002 matters because it builds the practical skills needed to correctly select, install, inspect, and maintain equipment in hazardous areas. It ensures work is carried out safely, in line with international standards, reducing the risk of explosions while maintaining the integrity and reliability of Ex installations.
Course Overview
Course Overview
This unit of competence focuses on developing the knowledge and skills required to classify hazardous areas where explosive materials such as gases, vapours, or dust may be present. It includes the ability to analyse data, identify explosion hazards, and ensure proper risk assessment in industrial environments.
Learners will also gain the ability to define zones, complete proper documentation, and follow safety standards. The zoning process may vary based on national regulations, and this unit is based on IEC standards including IEC 60079-10-1 and IEC 60079-10-2, along with other relevant standards.
Course objectives
Course Learning Outcomes
By the end of this hazardous area Installations training, participants will be able to:
- Identify hazardous materials, process equipment, and potential sources of release
