The CompEx Ex01 & Ex02 qualification is designed for electrical technicians and engineers working in hazardous areas where explosive atmospheres may arise due to gases and vapours.
This course focuses on the installation, inspection, and maintenance of Ex-certified electrical equipment (excluding intrinsically safe systems), combining essential theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on training in accordance with IEC standards.

Course Objectives
Upon successful completion, candidates will demonstrate:
Theoretical Understanding
- Understanding of relevant IEC standards, directives, national regulations, and guidance for hazardous areas involving explosive gas atmospheres
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification, including the influence of gas and vapour properties on zone types and extent
- Awareness of protection concepts for both non-intrinsically safe and intrinsically safe equipment
- Understanding of Ex certification, equipment marking, and key protection methods such as Ex 'd', Ex 'i', Ex 'e', Ex 'n' and other applicable techniques
Practical Competence
- Ability to select and install non-intrinsically safe and intrinsically safe equipment in accordance with IEC standards
- Competence in carrying out inspection and maintenance using IEC-compliant inspection tables and procedures
- Ability to interpret technical documentation and test results accurately
- Ensuring compliance with safety requirements across installation, inspection, and maintenance activities, including effective fault identification and reporting

Theory Examination: MCQ — 60 questions — 1 hour 30 minutes
Practical Examination:
Ex01: Preparation and installation of Ex (non-IS) equipment — 3 hours 45 minutes
Ex02: Inspection and maintenance of Ex (non-IS) equipment — 1 hour 30 minutes
CompEx Certified — Core Competence
Upon successful completion, you will receive the internationally recognized CompEx Certificate in Core Competence — valid for 5 years and accepted across the global oil & gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, and mining industries.
Your certification is registered on the CompEx database, verifiable worldwide, and demonstrates your ability to install, inspect, and maintain Ex equipment safely in hazardous gas atmospheres.
